Chronic Pain- A Case Study

Vicky was 23 years old and was diagnosed with a degenerative back problem which caused her incredible amounts of pain both day and night. At times it would flare up and she would be completely incapacitated. Vicky was referred by her GP after exhausting all other avenues and medications. Vicky was on the maximum dose of pain killers just to help her survive the day. Together we explored the nature of her pain, her perceptions of the pain and through the use of CBT and EMDR helped to change her perceptions of her pain. After 6 months work Vicky was in control of her pain and most importantly for her medication free.
